Tarot is something anybody can learn, and there are dozens of reasons to learn including and beyond wanting to “predict the future” or become a professional reader. Tarot brings us into a world of symbols that gives us access to more information than our logical, language-based minds allow. The process of learning the tarot teaches lessons and wisdom inherent in the cards while giving us a shared language with the universe, the divine, our own subconscious, or the collective unconscious (if you want to get Jungian). As a professional tarot card reader and a student of the tarot myself for over six years, I’ve had the pleasure of living my life with the tools of tarot by my side and experiencing my journey through the lens of their wisdom. There are plenty of books and online resources that can help you study and memorize the cards and the symbols in the deck, but the truth is, learning tarot is a reflexive process. We study the tarot as we learn about ourselves and the world, and we use the information we gain from each to enhance and transform our experience with the other. That is to say, learning and building a relationship with the tarot is a personal process that will always be more than just an amalgamation of the information you learn from books and online resources. To truly know and use the tarot, your knowledge and wisdom of the cards will ultimately incorporate elements of you. Your associations, your beliefs, your unique perspective and wisdom can and should influence the way that you see and understand the cards. That is why my tarot course is structured to not just teach you about the cards- the history, the symbolism, the textbook definitions of the archetypes- but truly teach you how to learn the tarot through the lens of your own experiences, interests, values, and beliefs. This way, it will become a tool to support you on your individual journey and help you reach your specific goals. At the end of the six week course, you’ll leave with the tools to cultivate a lifelong study of the tarot and embark on a journey of embodiment through your own “fool’s journey.”
The class will be capped at 15 participants and include hands-on “workshop” time for students to practice working with their deck through planned exercises related to the course material. It is important to me that each participant has the opportunity to receive one-on-one guidance, ask questions, and engage in discussion with the group. During the six weeks, you will also have access to my “office hours” where you can email me any questions that come up throughout the week. I will respond personally and use your questions and feedback to inform our lessons moving forward.
